Auditions
Do you love short-form classical choral music
as much as we do? We invite area
singers interested in a challenging and rewarding vocal experience to
audition for our group! General
auditions for the 2009–2010 season have already passed, but we may add a
few voices through July 31, 2009, as arranged by our conductor. Please E-mail
us if you would like to be considered for our upcoming season.
Each person wishing to audition should
prepare their choice of song. A classical selection is preferred, but any song
done well will be appreciated. A capella auditions are fine, but if
you need an accompanist please inform us in advance and bring a legitimate
copy of your piece (no photocopies!) for the accompanist to use. In
addition to your choice of song, each person should be prepared to
demonstrate vocal technique and sight-reading ability. Each audition will
last approximately 15 minutes.
Prospective singers should be able to commit
to weekly Monday night rehearsals, "dress" rehearsals which are
typically held the night before each of our three main concerts, and to our
scheduled
concert dates for the season. The director will discuss these
commitments with you during your audition.
Rehearsals are held at Christ Episcopal
Church, 7:00–9:30 Monday evenings. Our first meeting of the season (music
distribution, a preliminary read-through, and welcome activities) takes
place a week before Labor day, and regular rehearsals begin the Monday
after Labor Day. Let's make music!
Renaissance Apprenticeship Program
Renaissance is proud to continue our
Apprenticeship Program for high-school juniors and seniors interested in
developing as vocal musicians. Ask your high school choir teacher to
nominate you if you are interested!
